1. Nutrition Tip #4 The Importance of the Omegas! 2. Training Tip #4 Get Their Attention! 3. Health Tip #2 ACV for those Pests on our dogs! 4. The Plan For Free Food! 5. The CCS Basic Supplement For One!
I hope by this time you have examined your dog food labels and are at least considering a switch to a product like Canidae Pet Food. Along with the supplements I suggest, Canidae is a good choice to feed your dogs and very economical.
Nutrition Tip # 4 Review The Importance of Enzymes In Issue 5!
The Importance of Omega 3 and 6 Fatty Acids
There are two families of Essential Fatty Acids (EFA), the Omega 3 and the Omega 6.
The Omega 6 is found in vegetable oils, poultry fat and pork fat.
Deficiency in Omega 6 Fatty Acids produce skin, reproductive and growth problems. A great source of this EFA is corn oil.
That is why I use this oil in the CCS Basic Supplement. I have included the Supplement mixture below for one dog.
The Omega 3 Fatty acids can be found in brains, eyes, raw eggs, feces and the vegetable matter in the rumen of other mammals. I choose to feed raw eggs. Fish and fish oils have an excellent supply of
this EFA also. Contemplate the choices and I think you will pick the egg too! Raw fish might be a little unpleasant to feed your dog. He will most likely try and roll in it first!
Deficiency in this EFA will cause nerve and vision problems. Learning difficulties in puppies have been documented due to the lack of Omega 3.
Modern diets do not include EFA’s or enzymes as we learned last month. That is why we see so many allergic and inflammatory skin problems, arthritis, and other allergic conditions.
In conclusion feed your dog the CCS Basic Supplement along with a raw egg every other day.
Always add enzymes to digest your dogs food whether you take my advice and add raw meats and vegetables or an enzyme additive. Just do it!
Training Tip # 4 Review Proper Correction In Issue 5!
Leash Training. Get There Attention!
Before we start on leash training, I suppose we should go over the equipment.
For now you will need: A 6' leather training leash A 15' to 30' nylon lead A chain or flat nylon training collar (choke collar)
If you are not familiar with the proper way of correcting a dog with a choke collar or sizing one for your dog PLEASE ask me or a professional trainer! You can hurt your dog and discourage him from learning.
I start a young dog on a 15' nylon lead and let him feel his boundaries.
When he gets to the limit of the leash correct him firmly enough so that he looks at you. So it will go like this: Correction with the no word and a quick snap of the leash - He looks at you then give him immediate praise.
Simple, right? Repeat this exercise until he is looking at you all the time and will not go to the limits of the leash.
You can now begin shortening the leash and repeat the exercise until you are using your 6' training leash. Remember it is correction/No at the same time so he associates the correction with the no word then immediate praise when he looks at you! Practice this 15 minutes per day and you will have a dog that waits for you to tell him what to do when you put on his leash. Next Issue we will work on the heal command.
Health Tip # 2 Avoid Bloat In Issue 5!
Apple Cider Vinegar (ACV)
Along with being a great additive to your pups diet, will repel all sorts of insects including flies. A one to one water to ACV drench will send fleas running.
Add a couple of drops of the same one to one mixture to the ears and it will take care of mites. The drench will ease excessive itching and begin healing hot spots by neutralizing the pH of the skin.
CCS Basic Supplement (Weeks Supply For One Dog)
In a food processor add:
1 part each of (as many as you like) greens or veggies (I use Broccoli, Spinach and Parsley) 1 cup oil (corn oil is good) A few cloves of crushed garlic
(Natural flea deterrent among many health benefits) Teaspoon ACV (Apple Cider Vinegar) 1 Pint Natural plain yogurt (probiotics) (To promote nutrition utilization and digestion) 3000 IU of vitamin E
(To prevent oil from going rancid in dog’s system) 5000 IU of vitamin C (Along with E an excellent antioxidant)
This formula should change by varying ingredients to include as many different fruits and vegetables on the list. I have found that over ripe fruits are more accepted by my dogs.
Add to your dog's food once per day gradually until you reach a tablespoon portion.
Please ask about your particular nutrition situation or if you have any questions about feeding your dog for his maximum health!

Please be well in health and Spirit!
