Growing mushrooms from liquid cultures means you don’t have to wait for germination time of spores which can often take 1 – 4 weeks; it also means you’ll have a high quality, proven mushroom strain to grow, and not have to ‘gamble’ with using a multi-spore syringe.
Our live liquid cultures are very easy to use, you simply inject the culture direct into sterilised substrate and colonisation will start immediately.
All of our liquid cultures are made in our own laboratory from pure mushroom cultures and are taken from our current master supply which we use for our commercial growing operation. All cultures are guaranteed to be 100% clean from any contaminants and are continually tested to ensure health and vitality of the strain.
Most liquid mushroom cultures should be stored in a refrigerator until use. If stored correctly in the fridge, cultures can last for years. Only certain tropical species like the Pink Oyster should be stored at room temperatures.
Each liquid culture is sold in fully labelled and leur lock capped 10cc syringes (1cc/10ml of liquid culture is recommended for 100-500g of hydrated sterilised grain). All orders come with 1 x sterilised 18 gauge needle and alcohol wipe to help with inoculation.

Pink Oyster Liquid Culture Review.
Background: I’m a novice grower, I’ve used a few grow kits in the past and was intrigued to take my skills onto the next step. Pink oysters (and I think most of the other oyster mushrooms) are some of the most aggressive strains perfect for the beginner grower.
I’ve so far grown mushrooms on cardboard, spent coffee grounds (don’t use fresh grounds, they are too acidic as I’ve found) and chopped up straw (quite messy preparation though).

To make liquid culture, mix a sugar source (like light malt extract or honey) with water, sterilize the solution, and then introduce mushroom mycelium. Use a canning jar with an airport lid for the culture and a pressure cooker for sterilization.
After 14 to 16 days, you should notice the beginnings of fruit bodies growing. Depending on what species you are growing, a mushroom can grow from a small pin to a full mushroom in as little as 48 hours from this point.
A Liquid Culture (LC) is a sterile syringe filled with live mushroom mycelium in a liquid state. Spores are different from Liquid cultures in spores are reproductive cells of a mushroom whereas LC's contain the next life cycle stage of the mushroom; mycelium.
While liquid cultures can be stored for many months, we recommend using them within six months for the best results. In our experience, liquid cultures of nearly any variety can grow even after a year of storage in the refrigerator.
How much liquid culture you need is depending on the medium you are inoculating. If you are using our sterilised grain bags we recommend that you use 10 ml of liquid culture per bag. You can use less but it will slow down the process while increasing the risk of failure.
Yes, you can make liquid culture from spores, but it takes much longer for the mycelium to form and colonize the nutrient-rich solution. Another downside of making liquid culture with spores is that when two spores combine to form hyphae, they create a new strain, making it difficult to predict the genetic traits.
Mushroom liquid cultures need to be mixed periodically so the mycelium does not clump together. I like using magnetic stir plates and a delay timer. A few seconds on and a few hours off.
Bacterial Contamination, the Liquid Culture is cloudy and after few days nothing grows. If your liquid culture gets taken over by bacteria you'll notice that the Mason Jar will be slightly pressurized. If you have a filter patch, you'll be able to smell that it's gone bad.
The next step is sterilizing your jars. You'll want to place them in the pressure cooker until the pressure reaches 15 psi. Once it reaches this pressure level, keep the jars in the cooker for 35–40 minutes. This will ensure you've fully sterilized the culture.
One of the advantages of liquid culture is the speed at which it colonizes the inoculated substrate. The living mycelium in liquid culture begins to grow and colonize the substrate immediately after inoculation, and you can often see visible mycelial growth a couple of days later.
You should inject 5cc (or mL) of your MYYCO syringe into your research substrate. Too much can cause too damp of an environment and create mold or rot and too little will not allow for proper microscopic research.
Store in a cool, dark place: The liquid culture should be stored in a cool, dark place such as a refrigerator or a cool basem*nt. This will help to slow down the growth of the mycelium and extend the shelf life of the culture. Preventing UV light will also keep the mycelium viable for longer.
Firstly, dissolve 20g of LME into 1 litre of water, I tend to this with hot/boiling water as it helps dissolve it better. Fill your jars/jar approximately 80% full with broth. If you have a magnetic stirrer add it now, if not, add a bolt. If you don't have a bolt, don't worry you'll just have to swirl a bit more.
The liquid inoculation is carried out on the clean substrate. Either the substrate is in a jar (as in the pictures) or the substrate is contained in a grow bag. In both cases, the mycelium must be able to breathe. If you choose a jar, pierce its lid and clean it with 70° alcohol.
Place the mushroom with the gills face down onto the paper and pop a glass over the top.Leave this for 24 hours.When you return, remove the glass and gently lift the mushroom. The spores will have fallen from the cap and you should see a print on the paper, which replicates the gill pattern from the mushroom.

In a Mason jar, mix a 25-to-1 ratio of distilled water and light corn syrup. For instance, mix 100 ml of warm, distilled water, with 4 ml of light corn syrup. In the cover of the Mason jar, poke a hole big enough for the syringe needle to enter and cover it with breathable tape.
