Chocolate Sprinkle Sandwich Cookies Recipe (1)

We found these cute and delicious cookies that are perfect for your holiday baking. They are so soft and moist.

At first we thought we were eating a doughnut hole that had been cut in half and filled with delicious buttercream frosting.

The cookie is so yummy. We are huge frosting lovers over here, so that puts these cookies over the top. They look festive and are sure to be a hit at your holiday parties or for gift giving. You will love these.

tips on how to make chocolate sandwich sprinkle cookies:

These cookies may look a little difficult, but they are so simple. They only take a few minutes to prepare and cook. The tricky part is not eating all of them.

Here are a few tips and tricks to help you make these delicious holiday cookies.

-When making this recipe, it’s important to understand that the dough should not be sticky. If it is sticky, the butter was either too softened, or you didn’t add enough flour.

-When mixing both the cookie dough batter, as well as the frosting, I would recommend using an electric mixer. I use my hand mixer, but a standing mixer would also work.

-If you are planning on mixing by hand, we highly recommend using a wooden or plastic spoon for the dough, and a whisk for the frosting.

-As you roll out the cookie dough, be sure that the balls are similar sizes. They will be matching up with each other, and they won’t look as cute or as uniform if they are different sizes.

Change the color of sprinkles depending on the holiday.

Sprinkles are so fun to me. I love that you can change the color of sprinkles, and they suddenly become a cookie for a different holiday.

I use green sprinkles for St. Patricks Day.

I use orange and purple sprinkles for Halloween.

On Valentine’s Day, I make these with pink and red sprinkles.

For the fourth of July, I use red white and blue.

I could go on and on, but these really are the perfect cookies, for any holiday.

FAQs

Do you put sprinkles on before or after baking cookies? ›

You have to put the sprinkles on before baking cookies, so they will stick, unless you're going to frost them, in which case the sprinkles go after the frosting.

How do you get sprinkles to stick on cookies? ›

Make an egg wash—add pasteurized egg whites and a splash of water to a small bowl and mix with a fork until combined. Brush the tops of the cooled cookies with the egg wash and immediately add sprinkles.

Will sprinkles melt in the oven? ›

Will my sprinkles burn in the oven if I put them on the cookies before baking? Nope! As long as you follow the recipe and use the correct oven temperature, you should have no problems with sprinkles burning while baking.

What are the ingredients in chocolate sprinkles? ›

Ingredients. Sugar, vegetable oil (palm, palm kernel), cornstarch, cocoa with alkali, confectioner's glaze, dextrin, natural and artificial flavor, soy lecithin, carnauba wax.

How do you put sprinkles on cookies without them melting? ›

While the cookies are still warm from the oven you can press sprinkles gently into the slightly soft surface. If you want better adhesion you can brush the cookie with corn syrup and then dip it into the sprinkles. Once the corn syrup sets the sprinkles will be solidly stuck to the surface.

How do you get sprinkles to stick to sugar cookies before baking? ›

The easiest thing to do is to brush the tops of the cookies with a little bit of water or milk, using just enough to dampen the cookie dough and no more. This will help the sprinkles stick and won't change the finished appearance of the cookie when you're done baking.

What can I use to make sprinkles stick? ›

Use a damp surface: One of the best ways to get sprinkles to stick is to use a damp surface. Before you add your sprinkles, lightly mist the frosting or glaze with a spray bottle filled with water. This will help the sprinkles adhere better.

What kind of sprinkles do you use for cookies? ›

So if you want to bake sprinkles into a funfetti batter or dough, you'll want to use jimmies or confetti sprinkles for the best results. These sprinkles will hold their shape and colour the best when baked. Cachous, sugar pearls and rods are the show-stoppers in the decorating world.

How to do a sprinkle rim? ›

Pour sprinkles in their own plate or bowl. Paint corn syrup on around the outer edge of the glass. Alternatively, you can also dip or roll the edge of the glass in the corn syrup bowl for a minimal layer of sprinkles. Painting around the edge will give you a wider rim for more sprinkles which is the method we chose.

What are the best sprinkles to bake with? ›

Sprinkles: For confetti cake, bakers will universally advise using jimmies – aka the long rainbow sprinkles. Nonpareils, or the little balls, are much more prone to bleeding color.

What's the difference between sprinkles and jimmies? ›

In the Northeastern United States, sprinkles are often referred to as jimmies. "Jimmies", in this sense, are usually considered to be used as an ice cream topping, while sprinkles are for decorating baked goods, but the term can be used for both.

What are baking sprinkles called? ›

In the United States, “Sprinkles” is probably the most popular catch-all term for all of these bits of garnish. But within that category, there are many names, shapes, and sizes: nonpareils, hundreds-and-thousands, jimmies, sanding sugar, pearl sugar, and dragees.

Do chocolate sprinkles actually taste like chocolate? ›

Back then, all chocolate sprinkles were made with real cocoa and sugar, extruded and cut to size. But today, some chocolate-sprinkle manufacturers forgo the cocoa, or use only trace amounts, to save money, which is why crappy sprinkles taste like nothing more than wax-coated sugar.

What are white chocolate sprinkles called? ›

White chocolate jazzies are chocolate flavour round buttons that have been covered in hundreds and thousands. These candy sprinkles have made these sweets very popular all over the planet. Made by Hannahs, these creamy white chocolate flavour buttons are also known as white gems, jazzles or even snowies!

How do you stick decorations to sugar cookies? ›

Sanding sugar can be sprinkled directly onto the wet icing, too. I recommend using tweezers to place dragées and nonpareils precisely on the cookie. You can still attach decorations after the flood icing has dried—just use a dab of the same color icing to affix the decoration.

How do you make sprinkles stick to dry icing? ›

The key to getting sprinkles to stick to dry icing is to heat the icing a bit before adding the sprinkles.

How do you get sprinkles to stick to brownies after baking? ›

The solution? If you dust the top of brownie batter with sprinkles just before baking, the sprinkles slightly sink into the batter and remain in position after baking. Alternatively, incorporate sprinkles with wet batter to include them in the brownie's center.
