The mission of Wayzata Public Schools is to ensure a world-class education that prepares each and every student to thrive today and excel tomorrow in an ever changing global society.

Wayzata Public Schools is made up of nine elementary schools (K-5), three middle schools (6-8) and one high school (9-12).

The current Wayzata High School campus was completed in 1997 and classes began in the 1997–98 school year. On February 25, 2014, voters approved a referendum for a $109 million bond request to expand the high school and improve security and technology.

Wayzata High School is a top rated, public school located in PLYMOUTH, MN. It has 3,523 students in grades 9-12 with a student-teacher ratio of 23 to 1. According to state test scores, 78% of students are at least proficient in math and 81% in reading.

U.S. News & World Report has recognized Wayzata High School among its list of 2023-24 Best Minnesota High Schools. Wayzata High School was ranked #4 among traditional 9-12 public high schools in the state.

The current Wayzata High School, serving students in grades 9 through 12, opened in the fall 1997. The high school building that opened in 1961 was converted into Central Middle School in 1997.
